Understanding The Process
All projects will be posted as an Anouncement in the 'Site News' Board. Those with the flag (MAIN) in their title are intended to be the biggest, toughest, and most impactful projects that will likely take everybody working together on to be completed. Those with (SUB) in their title can be anything from individual projects to just less impactful features.
(MAIN) Projects will receive their own board category so that the Header/Footer Code will be isolated from the rest of the projects. Updates to this code MUST be logged as a post in that project's Anouncement Thread.
(SUB) Projects will not need their own board category unless its owner deems it necessary. Try to keep the code organized in the Headers/Footers so that it is clear where a (SUB) Project begins and where it ends.
There is no time sensitvity on any of the projects here. While the primary goal is to implement new and cool features to the MMM, the more valuable take away is getting experience working as a coder and collaberating with other coders.
Any skill-level is welcome. If all you know is BBS-Code (the stuff you use to format your posts), then you can help stylize the new features or theory-craft features that you think would look cool but do not have the skill to execute on your own. If you're looking to learn more about coding, then this is a great place for you as well since you have direct access to more experienced programmers that can help guide you through the ropes!
This experience is whatever you make of it!
Modifying Headers and Footers
To help keep everyone on the same page, whenever you modify any of the site's code, you must make a post describing these changes.
Minor changes like typos or small tweaks do not need to be recorded, changing the color or pixel-position of something.
But anything from bug fixes and beyond is absolutely vital to share with the rest of us!
Implementation to the Main Site
When a feature has been deemed functional and safe to implement, it will be shipped to the main site's Headers and Footers by one of the staff members there. If any code ends up breaking, it will be removed from the main site and brought back here if initial troubleshooting is unable to fix the problem.
For this reason, when a project is finished, its respective board category will not be removed from this site (though it may be hidden if they end up taking too much space).
And lastly, nobody's really "in charge" here, the idea is that we work as a team to build ideas and features that may or may not get implemented. Again, the most important part of this is to build experience, so let's just have fun with it!
